Smart Prefab Layer Materials contain entire layer stacks packed into a single material. Simply drag a smart material into your Asset Texturing project and all of the layers, masks, painting, effects, and procedurals will unfold into the Layer Stack dynamically texturing the asset.
The following article overviews where to find Smart Prefab Layer Materials, how to apply them to your projects, and how to create your own.
Smart Prefab Layer Materials can be found in the MAT Library under the LayerMaterials
category.
In an Asset Texturing project, simply drag a Smart Prefab Layer Material either onto the surface of the mesh or directly into the Layer Stack
. The contents of the smart material will unfold and spawn everything that is a part of it.
To create a Smart Prefab Layer Material, start by adding the layers for your smart material to a group. This can be done by selecting the layers in the Layer Stack
and by clicking the (Add New Layer Group) button found either in the main toolbar or below the Layer Stack
. You can then give your group a name by double clicking. This will be the name of your smart material.
Once your layers are grouped, right click the group and select Add to Library as 'Prefab Material'
from the contextual menu. Your smart material will now appear in the MAT Library
panel under the LayerMaterials
category.
Another way to create a smart material is by dragging the layer group directly into the
MAT Library
panel.
