¶ Who is eligible for the free InstaMAT Pioneer license?
The InstaMAT Pioneer license is only available for either individuals or businesses with annual revenue less than $100,000.
¶ Where can I get the Pioneer license?
You can get the Pioneer license by signing up for the free subscription here.
¶ Is it really free? Can I use it commercially?
Yes, the InstaMAT Pioneer license is really free! There are no plans to change or remove the Pioneer license in the foreseeable future.
Yes, you can use the InstaMAT Pioneer license commercially, however, when you release content - either a game, or artwork, you need to make sure to pay credit to InstaMAT. We call this the Pioneer Attribution.
¶ Pioneer Attribution
We're providing a fully subsidized license to individuals, small-businesses and startups. In return, we're asking that proper attribution is provided by:
- If you create a game, interactive application or video
- The game, app or video has a title or splash screen?
- Then include the InstaMAT logo in your production's splash screen, not smaller than other vendors
- There is no title or splash screen?
- Then include the InstaMAT logo in the first seconds of your content
- The game, app or video has a title or splash screen?
- If you're creating a mod for a game such as levels, props, and characters,
- Then apply the watermark where it is resonable to do so such as an Artstation thumbnail
- And provide a link back to the InstaMAT website in the readme.

This really is all there is to it! The exact details can be reviewed in the licensing agreement that needs to be accepted before acquiring the license.
Obviously, you're more than invited to do more to promote InstaMAT and we're happy if you do so!
¶ Can I sell art assets created with InstaMAT?

¶ What if I want to bundle tilable texture maps from InstaMAT's built-in material library that are used to texture assets in a 3D asset pack?
You can bundle the tileable texture maps with the 3D asset pack using the Pioneer license, as long as the InstaMAT watermark is applied to any screenshots and a link to InstaMAT’s website is included in the asset pack's description and relevant documentation.
¶ Can I sell my game or app that contains content created with InstaMAT?

¶ Does the Pioneer license collect data about my usage or content?
As of June 2024, InstaMAT does not collect data even if you opted in when first starting InstaMAT with your Pioneer license.
It was decided that data collection is no longer a requirement for the Pioneer license and the dialog can be skipped in a future version without requiring to opt-in to data collection.
